FAQ
frequently asked questions
How do we start working with 8 PM Engineering and Contracting?
You can contact us with a brief description of your requirements and any available drawings or documents. We will then arrange a discussion or site visit, after which we issue a tailored proposal outlining scope, methodology, timelines and commercial terms.
Do you only work on large projects?
No. We handle both small and large projects—from single-shop refurbishments and villa upgrades to full-floor office fitouts and building-wide maintenance.
Which geographies do you cover?
For engineering design, we are open to all geographies.
For contracting, we primarily serve projects within the Emirates, with a focus on key urban and commercial areas. For projects outside these areas, we review feasibility on a case-by-case basis.
Can you handle authority approvals and documentation?
Yes. We assist with design submissions, approvals and coordination with relevant authorities where required, as part of our engineering and contracting scope.
Do you provide design-only services, or must you also execute the work?
We can provide design-only services, design-and-build, or execution based on existing designs. Our involvement is flexible and can be customized to your needs.
Can you execute the works without doing the design?
Yes. We can execute your design and deliver a stand-alone service delivery, depending on your requirements.
What design standards and regulations do you follow?
Our designs are in line with applicable local authority requirements, international standards and project-specific specifications. Where required, we also align with green building or sustainability frameworks defined by the client.
Do you work with BIM and Revit?
Yes. We offer BIM and Revit-based modelling to improve coordination, clash detection and documentation quality, which helps reduce rework and delays during construction.
Can you work in occupied buildings without disrupting operations?
We frequently work in live environments such as offices, retail units and residential buildings. We plan works, phasing and access in coordination with the client to minimise disruption, and we maintain clear communication throughout the programme.
Do you assist with interior design, or only with MEP and technical works?
Our core strength is in engineering and technical delivery. However, we can coordinate with your nominated interior designer or, where required, recommend design partners and integrate their concepts with our MEP and construction scope.
How do you manage project timelines and cost control?
We establish a clear baseline programme and budget at the outset, then monitor progress through regular reporting, coordination meetings and early identification of risks. Any variations are discussed and agreed transparently with the client before implementation.
Can you support us in resolving technical aspects of contract disputes or claims?
Yes. We offer technical and commercial support related to claims and disputes, including documentation review, independent technical opinions and expert input to assist your legal and commercial teams.
Can you customise maintenance contracts?
Yes. We design AMC packages based on property size, system complexity and your operational hours, with agreed response times and reporting formats.
What types of maintenance contracts do you offer?
We offer preventive, reactive and comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs) tailored to the property type, system complexity and operating hours. Each contract includes defined response times, coverage details and reporting formats.
Can you take over maintenance for existing buildings with systems installed by others?
Yes. We can mobilise on existing assets, starting with a condition assessment of key systems. Based on our findings, we propose an appropriate maintenance plan and any recommended remedial works.
Do you provide emergency call-out services?
Emergency response can be included as part of a customised AMC, subject to agreed response times and availability. Details are defined in the contract based on your operational requirements.
How do you ensure quality and safety on your projects?
We follow structured quality control and HSE procedures, including method statements, risk assessments, toolbox talks and regular site inspections. Our supervision team monitors workmanship, materials and testing to ensure compliance with approved designs and relevant standards.
